Reaching beyond our walls and serving those in need are core values here.  In partnership with like-hearted organizations, and initiatives, we work to change the world through education, advocacy, and action for social justice.

Our community outreach includes the activities of the UUCA Social Justice Committee, our connections to the UUA through Study-Action programs, UUSC programs like Guest AT Your Table and affiliations with a variety of community groups.  Together, we think globally and act locally in support of racial justice, LGBTQIA+ rights, Reproductive Justice, and climate justice.

We have a legacy of “deeds not creeds.” Our work for a better world calls us to unexpected places as we harness love’s power to stop oppression. From grassroots community organizing to interfaith state, national, and corporate advocacy; in protest marches, prayer vigils, and press conferences; in homeless shelters and in prisons, Unitarian Universalists put our faith into action.

Our justice efforts are grounded in our congregationally-driven social justice statements and our call to break down divisions, heal isolation, and honor the interconnectedness of all life and all justice issues. We model these commitments by creating just, welcoming, and inclusive congregations. We act in partnership with groups and communities most impacted by injustice on local, state, national, and international levels.

UU the Vote

UU the Vote is a Unitarian Universalist Association electoral organizing initiative.  UUCA has worked closely with UU the Vote in the most recent national and statewide elections, and affirm their work getting as many folks to vote as possible.  On September 17th, 2022, we hosted a local event in partnership with UU the Vote, New Georgia Project, and Georgia Latino Alliance for Human Rights (pictured above). Welcoming Congregation

We welcome and affirm the dignity of the full spectrum of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual (LGBTQIA+) people, as well as that of same-sex couples. In addition, we prohibit and speak against discriminatory policies, private or public, which demean the sexual orientation or gender identity of human beings. Learn More

UUA Study Action Issues

Congregational Study Action Issues are decided upon by General Assembly of the Unitarian Universalist Association.  Issues are developed by congregations and sent through a process. The process is congregationally driven and is facilitated by the Commission on Social Witness (CSW). We are stronger together. Our combined efforts to make the world more fair and humane can accomplish more than any one of us working alone. As Unitarian Universalists, we set priorities for our social justice efforts by investing in key issues that exemplify our commitments to justice, equity and compassion. Learn More

UUSC-Guest At Your Table program

Guest at Your Table (GAYT) is UUSC’s annual intergenerational program to raise support for and awareness about our work to advance human rights. Since UUSC works in over 25 countries, with over 75 grassroots partners, there are thousands of individuals involved in and who benefit from the work that our members make possible. GAYT is an opportunity to celebrate grassroots partnership, support human rights, and learn about just four of these individuals – the “guests” in Guest at Your Table. Learn More

Spooky To Be Hungry

Spooky To Be Hungry, founded in 1996 by UUCA member Evelyn Browne with strong support from other UUCA members, is an annual grassroots food and monetary drive running throughout the month of October. Spooky began as primarily a neighbor-to-neighbor effort, but has grown to include organized drives in schools, businesses, and faith communities and is now administered by the Golden Harvest Food Bank.  The UUCA continues to support Spooky every October.  Learn More

Other Partnerships

At UUCA, we are connected to each other, to the surrounding community, and to the world. This connection helps us to find others who share common values, interests, and support each other in good times and bad. This connection is the key to the strength of our community. Unitarian Universalist (UU) values help people live better lives and create a better world. In a rapidly changing society, we can't expect people to seek us out the way they used to. We need to get outside our walls, build connections, and make our faith as accessible as possible.
