Lifespan Faith Formation

What is Faith Formation for us? And why do it?

We practice good faith with each other, Unitarian Universalism, and the interdependent web as we journey together.

And, we nourish that which most grounds us through life’s trials.

UUCA strives to create rich Faith Formation programs which:

  • move us deeper and deeper into embodied lives of integrity and love,
  • expand our awareness and understanding of our UU identities and the world around us,
  • and make relational meaning of all our wisdom sources.

What will your experience be?

Faith Formation at UUCA utilizes intergenerational play, learning, and meaningful activities (though programs are generally divided/tailored by age group):

  • Adult programs - 1st Sunday Faith Formation, Reels with the Reverend, Weekly Meditation, and Anti-Racist, Anti-Oppression, & MultiCultural workshops
  • Youth Programs - 4 week-long Summer Camps, Our Whole Lives (a science based, secular, and inclusive sex ed curriculum), Coming of Age classes, and a growing Youth Group (led by youth advisor Vic Pierce)
  • Children’s Faith Formation - Developmentally appropriate Soul Matters Curriculum, Kids’ Night In
  • Leadership Development - Concentrated curriculum from the UUA Leaderlab and other resources which prepare people of all ages for church leadership, including Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion workshops

Our Faith Formation Journey

Our Faith Formation Journey: Sign-In Logistics

Upon arrival:

1.  Main Entrance: Go to the Faith Formation Table (to your immediate left) to check in all children on the computer. This ensures safety, emergency contact, and allergy information is recorded. We are responsible for your child(ren) until pick-up or 15 minutes after the last program, whichever comes first.

2.  Nursery (Ages 0-5, or up to 7 if not potty trained):Sign in your child(ren) directly at the nursery. Include pick-up person's contact information and any allergies/health concerns.

3. Sanctuary (if applicable): If children begin in the service,  accompany them to the sanctuary. They will typically be "sung out" about 20 minutes into the service. Intergenerational services (usually the first Sunday) mean children stay for the entire service. Check the greeter's table or monthly newsletter for the day's schedule.
