The Unitarian Universalist Church of Augusta is a community of friendship and fun. Through a wide variety of fellowship opportunities and social activities, our members develop connections that bring meaning, hope, and whole lot of laughter and fun to their lives.
Soul Circles is a small group ministry program that is primarily interested in increasing intimate connections between members of our community by shared and playful reflection on deep topics related to our churchwide monthly themes. This, like most of our activities, is also profoundly faith-formational as we expand our connection to ourselves and each other.
Music is an integral part of the worship life of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Augusta. Our musical offerings add beauty, spiritual depth and inspiration to our worship services. Our adult choir sings a wide range of music and meets on Sunday morning only. All levels of skill and experience are welcome! Those who play instruments are welcome to join us in our music making. We will work with you at whatever level to allow you to make a meaningful contribution to the music program.
The UUCA Women’s Group began around 15 years ago. It meets on the first Monday of the month at 6:30 at the church unless the activity is a field trip elsewhere. Topics and activities are amazingly eclectic, ranging from discussion of favorite books and poetry to visits to nature sites to orientation to roller derby! Some recurring favorites have been labyrinth walks at the church’s labyrinth, a croning ceremony to celebrate those women who have attained a certain age or status, and sending “support our troops” gift packages at Christmas. Refreshments are potluck and women friends are welcome.
Women’s Luncheon Group meets the second Tuesday of every month at various restaurants. Quarterly, we choose a place in Aiken or North Augusta and invite women from the Aiken congregation to join us. Announcements are made in the weekly ennouncements and Sunday Order of Service. RSVPs are requested.
The ROMEO group meets for lunch monthly in various restaurants around the area. Announcements are made in Realm in the the weekly ennouncments mailing list.
The Portable Book Club meets the fourth Wednesday of each month (except in December) at a restaurant from 6 to 8 pm to dine and discuss its monthly selection. Books may be fiction, non-fiction, classics or modern. The main rule in choosing a book is that it must be available in paperback and through the library system. The person who suggests the book is usually the discussion leader for that month and usually picks the restaurant, which, if possible, is connected with the book’s location, theme, or characters. The Book Club is open to all interested in exploring new books. Each month’s book and restaurant is listed in the newsletter and the calendar.
